Short Film of the Day: ‘I Am Yup’ik’
April 2, 2020
Directed by Daniele Anastasion and Nathan Golon, I Am Yup’ik (2016) is a stunningly human look at how basketball unites a tiny Alaskan community. I first saw the film at the 2016 Florida Film Festival and was immediately struck by how well it balanced sports and cultural commentary. It’s the Hoop Dreams of short films. And for those of us missing college basketball right now, it’s a reminder of why we love the sport.
