My way-too-early top 10 of 2015
When you consider how densely packed the fall and early winter are with high-quality films, the movie-going year is really just half over. But that hasn’t stopped me from compiling my “way-too-early top 10 for 2015.” Please keep in mind I’m still catching up on many of the best festival films, including those from Sundance and Toronto. And this list in no way attempts to include the best foreign-language films of the year, as the top ones simply haven’t been made available in the United States yet. (All movies are ranked on my 0-5 scale.)
1. Everest (3-D IMAX version) – 4 ¼ stars
2. Among the Believers FL – 4 ¼
3. Inside Out (3-D version) – 4 ¼
4. Love & Mercy – 4
5. Cinderella – 4
6. The End of the Tour – 4
7. Mr. Holmes – 3 ¾
8. Ex Machina – 3 ¾
9. Tomorrowland – 3 ¾
10. Once Upon a Crime: the Borrelli-Davis Conspiracy – 3 ¾
