Florida Film Festival to begin Friday
The 34th annual Florida Film Festival is scheduled for April 11-20, at Maitland, Florida’s Enzian Theater and Regal Winter Park Village. Check out my coverage in The Orlando Weekly later this week, including commentary on the opening film, Stolen Kingdom, and an interview with the documentary’s director, Joshua Bailey. I might also have more to say about one of the festival’s celebrity guests, Mia Farrow, who will screen Rosemary’s Baby on April 18 and participate in a Q&A session.
I have seen only six features so far. Reviews will be coming soon, but in advance of the festival (because press is word-limited or embargoed), let me simply say I recommend the Swedish mystery-drama Unmoored, the socio-political documentary Hacking Hate, the French-English romantic dramedy Jane Austen Wrecked My Life and the aforementioned opening documentary. But I can’t recommend the socio-romantic drama On Swift Horses or David Cronenberg’s new body-horror-drama The Shrouds, though both will likely find their audiences.
Don’t wait for any further recommendations from me. Get your tickets now, and learn more, at FloridaFilmFestival.com.
